Utilities
The city of Mexicali has private and goverment owned companies that provide services such as gas, electricity, telephone lines, water, and sewer that are offered on each BTS or existing building in PIMSA’s parks. Our industrial parks are fully seved by the city utilities.
Water
The water service in Mexicali is supplied by CESPM (Comision Estatal de Servicios Publicos de Mexicali), through its three water treatments plants, covering 95% of the population. These plants receive water from the Colorado River. The cost of water depend upon the amount consumed.
Electricity
Our city, has one of the largest Geothermal Electricity Generating Plants in the world. With a yielding capacity of over 620 Megawatts, Cerro Prieto Geothermal plant provides electricity in such abundance, that excess of energy is presently being exported to the U.S. The electric power rates in Mexicali vary. Its important to point out that the cost per Kilowatt depend on the total amount of power used and the efficient use of it.
Telecommunications
The outstanding advantage of being located in the U.S-Mexico border allows our country to fully integrate its communication systems with the rest of the world. Our city offers telephone lines, fax, telex, data transmission and satellite communication service, as well as different servers for internet communication.
Fuel & Gas
Energy supply is very ample and consists on a wide variety of products such as: premium and magna gasoline, natural gas and LP, diesel fuel, etc. Every city has its own storage and distribution terminal that looks forward to keep a continuous and uninterrupted supplying of the Energy. Petroleum products come from Mexican origin, with the exception of the gas that is obtained by means of importation. The quality of these products is excellent; they have standards of international competitiveness.
Highways
There are several ways to access Mexicali by road coming from the United States. A main advantage is rapid access to the wide network of Interstate freeways and highways that run throughout the neighboring State of California. Among the main routes readily approachable, we can mention the Interstate 8, just seven miles from the border, which represents an important avenue of transportation to both the western and eastern halves of the continental USA; Interstate 10 just a few miles further north, gives access to the northern part of California, and other northerly states, passing through the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area adjacent communities.
